Lab Diamond Vs Natural Diamonds

These are many things to consider when shopping for a diamond ring,
Whether you want gold or platinum? The colour, cut and clarity of the diamond and now,
Should I get a natural or lab diamond?

When lab diamonds first came onto the market commercially, they were expensive, and consumers were skeptical.
However, as technology and demand has increased, so has the trust in choosing a lab diamond over a natural.

There are two big differences in the two,
how they are made, and the price.

As far as the actual properties of the diamonds, they are virtually the same.

Natural diamonds are created naturally through intense pressure and heat over billions of years,
lab diamonds are created in a lab, in a matter of weeks.

Unless you are a trained professional it is impossible to tell the difference, even a regular diamond tester will test it as a diamond, after all, they are diamonds.
The only difference is that natural diamonds contain nitrogen where lab diamonds don’t.

The price difference of the two is significant, you can get a near flawless lab diamond for about a third of the price of a lower grade natural diamond.

When choosing between a lab diamond and a natural it’s important to consider that
A natural diamond needs to be mined and the limited supply makes them more valuable.

The resell value of a lab diamond will be much less than a natural diamond, they will continue to decrease in price, as the supply and demand increases,
as technology improves and the cost to produce reduces.
For this reason, as well as the tester required for lab diamonds is expensive, some valuers are reluctant or refuse to do a valuation for personal or insurance purposes.

So, when choosing the best option for you, consider which is more important.

A diamond that is better value, or one that better holds its value.
